1968-69 O-Pee-Chee NHL Hockey Card Set

1968-69 o-pee-chee hockey card bobby orr boston bruinsThe 1968-69 O-Pee-Chee set features 216 hockey cards. This is the first set for O-Pee-Chee since 1940-41. In addition, this is first time the 1967 NHL expansion teams are featured on cardboard. The Pittsburgh Penguins, Philadelphia Flyers, St. Louis Blues, Oakland Seals, Los Angeles Kings and Minnesota North Stars began play for the 1967-68 National Hockey League season but were excluded from the 1967-68 Topps set.

The highest valued card in the 1968-69 O-Pee-Chee set is the number 2 card, belonging to Bobby Orr of the Boston Bruins. The top valued rookie card belongs to Bernie Parent of the Philadelphia Flyers. Parent was the number one goalie for the Boston Bruins in 1965-66 but Topps failed to produce a hockey card with Parent’s face on the front.

Other important rookie cards in the 1968-69 O-Pee-Chee set belong to Danny Grant, Mickey Redmond, Garry Unger, Bob Plager and Les Binkley.

The Topps sister set has a very similar design with a slight difference in colour scheme on the back. Also, of course, the Topps cards lack anything in French. The 1968-69 Topps set consists of just 132 hockey cards and a full collection is valued at about a third of a full collection of O-Pee-Chee cards.
