It’s the NHL 3-Star Time Warp. Here’s the three stars of the night from October 13, 1973.

3rd Star – Walt Tkaczuk of the New York Rangers

In an 8-0 win over the Penguins at the Pittsburgh Civic Arena, Walt Tkaczuk had a five point game on a goal and four assists. Walt scored his second of the season late in the second period on Pittsburgh goalie Jim Rutherford. He also assisted on a pair of Steve Vickers goals, along with singles by Rod Gilbert and Ron Harris.

2nd Star – Ken Hodge of the Boston Bruins

The Bruins put up big numbers in a 9-4 win over the Red Wings at Detroit Olympia and it was Ken Hodge leading the way. Hodge had two goals and four assists for a six point game. Ken assisted on a pair of goals by Phil Esposito and a pair by Wayne Cashman.

Detroit’s goaltending was having issues in the game with started Roy Edwards allowing six goals on 18 shots and his mid-game replacement Doug Grant allowing three on ten shots.

1st Star – Yvan Cournoyer of the Montreal Canadiens

In a 4-3 win over the visiting Vancouver Canucks at the Montreal Forum, Cournoyer scored three for the Habs, including the game winner. Assisting on all three and adding a goal of his own was Frank Mahovlich. The pair was responsible for 12 of the 41 shots put on Vancouver goalie Gary Smith with Cournoyer leading the way with seven. In fact, Larry Robinson was the only Montreal skater without a shot on goal in the match.
